It appears as if it may have been derived (with one or two errors) from the gray book, with Roy interpolating serial numbers for years in between those listed by Waltham. It is somewhat sketchy, with serial numbers listed in round millions and not shown for every year, but rather for each million.Ī better known serial number/date list was presented by Roy Ehrhardt in various publications as far back as 1976. The earliest date chart that I know of was produced as a front page in some versions of the gray book, Waltham's list of serial numbers and movement descriptions from 1954.
